Romance lives @ your library

Happy Ever After (Nora Roberts' Bride Quartet Series #4) by Nora Roberts

Library Journal –

Superorganized wedding planner Parker Brown knows exactly the kind of man she will eventually marry—and it certainly isn't a mechanic with a bad-boy smile. But when sexy Mal Kavanaugh zooms to her rescue after she is run off the road, her carefully imagined future does an about-face and evolves along completely unexpected lines. Naturally, readers know exactly where this unlikely romance is going—even if Parker doesn't—and will not be surprised when Parker and Mal overcome their fears and differences and finally commit. Although complete in itself, this final installment in Roberts's "Bride Quartet" includes a number of important continuing characters, and readers may want to follow the books in order (Vision in White; Bed of Roses; Savor the Moment). VERDICT Funny, spicy, and enjoyable, this novel ties up a few loose ends, gives the villains their due and the heroes and heroines their happy endings, and adds another solid miniseries to Roberts's (The Search) already impressive list.

Family Affair by Debbie Macomber

From the Publisher –

This heartwarming and unforgettable story by #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber is available for the first time in over ten years!

When Lacey Lancaster's beautiful and beloved Abyssinian cat is wooed—and won—by the bad-boy cat next door, she's furious. Now, Cleo is going to be a mother and it's all neighbor Jack Walker's fault. He should have kept a better eye on his roving feline Romeo! As for Jack, how dare he flirt with her when it's pretty clear he's got a long-time girlfriend? After all, she can hear them fighting through the walls!

But when it turns out the woman in question is really his sister, Lacey realizes that love might indeed live right next door. She's been burned—badly—once before, but with kittens on the way and a good man at her side, maybe it's finally time to turn this into a family affair.

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson

Publishers Weekly –

In her charming debut novel, Simonson tells the tale of Maj. Ernest Pettigrew, an honor-bound Englishman and widower, and the very embodiment of duty and pride. As the novel opens, the major is mourning the loss of his younger brother, Bertie, and attempting to get his hands on Bertie's antique Churchill shotgun—part of a set that the boys' father split between them, but which Bertie's widow doesn't want to hand over. While the major is eager to reunite the pair for tradition's sake, his son, Roger, has plans to sell the heirloom set to a collector for a tidy sum. As he frets over the guns, the major's friendship with Jasmina Ali—the Pakistani widow of the local food shop owner—takes a turn unexpected by the major (but not by readers). The author's dense, descriptive prose wraps around the reader like a comforting cloak, eventually taking on true page-turner urgency as Simonson nudges the major and Jasmina further along and dangles possibilities about the fate of the major's beloved firearms. This is a vastly enjoyable traipse through the English countryside and the long-held traditions of the British aristocracy.
